In 1989, concerned about the growing evidence of the impact of hazardous environments on human health, WHO/Europe initiated the first ever environment and health process, towards a broad primary prevention public health approach, and to facilitate intersectoral policy-making.
  • Working Group on Health in Climate Change (HIC) of the Environment and Health Process (EHP) in Europe (WHO)
The Working Group on Climate Change and Health operates within the EHTF, the body leading the implementation and monitoring of the European Environment and Health Process. European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC)

  • ECDC climate change

The transmission of infectious disease is determined by many factors including social, economical, ecological conditions, access to care and intrinsic human immunity. Many infectious agents, vector organisms, non-human reservoir species, and pathogen replication rates are particularly sensitive to climatic conditions.
