The European Health Information Initiative (EHII) (http://www.euro.who.int/en/data-and-evidence/european-health-information-initiative-ehii) is a WHO network that aims to improve the information that underpins health policies in the European Region.
The vision of the EHII is the harmonization of health information and its exchange for the entire WHO European Region, to provide evidence to policy-makers. It fosters international cooperation and networks to support the exchange of expertise, strengthens strategic management of information systems for health, builds capacity, develops and refines measures of health and well-being, and harmonizes processes in data collection, reporting, and their use in policy-making.
The Division of Information, Evidence, Research and Innovation (DIR) at the WHO Regional Office for Europe serves as EHII’s secretariat. Contact: eudir@who.int
The EHII is the implementing platform for the first-of-its-kind “European action plan to strengthen the use of evidence, information and research for policy-making” and the accompanying resolution (http://www.euro.who.int/en/about-us/governance/regional-committee-for-europe/66th-session/documentation/working-documents/eurrc6612-action-plan-to-strengthen-the-use-of-evidence,-information-and-research-for-policy-making-in-the-who-european-region).
